The P G & Research Department of History organised a Students Essay Writing and Elocution Competitions & a Lecture Programme on Developmental ideas of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam to commemorate the ‘Youth Awakening Day’. The programme started at 10.30 a.m. in the Multimedia Hall with the recitation of Holy Quran and Tamil Thai Vazhtu by students. The programme was compeered by Dr. C. Mohamed Faheem. Mr. D. Abul Fazal, Asst. Professor and HOD of History welcomed the Guest and the participants. Dr. T. Afsar Basha, Vice-Principal in his felicitation address highlighted about the simplicity of former president of India Bharat Ratna Dr.A.P.J. Abdul Kalam.
Followed by his address the students Elocution Competition was held on ‘Science and the life of Dr. A.P.J. Abul Kalam’. A total of six students Participated, three students Mr. A. Thawfeeque Ahmed, II B.Sc. (Bio Technology), Mr. R. Sachin, II B.A. (History) and P. Meganathan of I M.Sc. (Chemistry) were declared as I, II and III Prize winners respectively.
The same number of students also participated in the Essay Writing competition. Among them Mr. P. Kamruddeen, I M.Com., Mr. M. Velmurugan, II B.Sc. (Bio technology) and Mr. M. Kalaiarasan, II B.Sc. (Maths) were declared as I, II and III Prize winners respectively. Mr. Askar, Asst. Prof. of Tamil handled the students Elocution and Essay writing Competition.
After the students elocution competition Mr. B. Fuzail Ahmed, the resource person presented with the help of Power Point deliberated in bilingual mode on the topic ‘Developmental Ideas of Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam’.
His speech highlighted on Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam’s interest in Education and Empowerment of Youth, his ideas, innovation and creative thinking, teachings, generosity and compassion, the leadership role and the techniques for the successful career of the students community. A total of 56 students participated in the programme. The Programme helped the students to know the life history and the developmental ideas of Bharat Ratna Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam. Mr. M. Siddique Ahmed, Asst. Prof. of History proposed the vote of thanks.
