Maulana Azad National Urdu University Study Centre (MANUU)
The Study Centre of Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) at Islamiah College (Autonomous), Vaniyambadi is the first study centre to be established in Tamil Nadu in 1999.
Vaniyambadi, in general, and Islamiah College (Autonomous) in particular is an important centre of Urdu language and literature. The College has been regularly conducting seminars and Mushaeras (night-time poetry recital sessions). Thus it was felt imperative to establish the Study Centre of Maulana Azad National Urdu University in the College.
Presently a triple-major B.A. Degree course is offered with History, Islamic Studies and Urdu Literature as main subjects in our study centre. The students may offer other optional as well, which include Economics, Political Science, Public Administration, and Sociology. Academic counselling sessions are regularly conducted during weekends and holidays. A majority of the students are women candidates, who would not have otherwise pursued higher education. Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Commerce, and Bachelor of Education are also offered in the Distance Education Stream. The details of science courses are: B.Sc., in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry; and B.Sc., in Botany, Zoology and Chemistry.
Postgraduate courses include M.A. in Urdu, History, and English.
